A Sorrento Getaway with Friends + Flowers
When it comes to celebrating love, laughter, and friendship, a flower crown workshop is the perfect way to bring everyone together for a fun and creative experience. Recently, I had the pleasure of hosting a workshop at a stunning Airbnb in Sorrento, VIC, for a group of 14 fabulous women—including the guest of honour, Cindy.
A Picturesque Setting
This beautiful workshop was thoughtfully organised by Celeste, who put together a perfect afternoon for Cindy and her closest friends. The hens had gathered from all over the state, with Mildura and Drouin among the places mentioned. They were in Sorrento for the weekend, soaking up the sunshine and coastal beauty. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect—clear blue skies, a gentle breeze, and the warmth of the sun creating the ideal atmosphere for an outdoor creative session.
I set up the workshop in the backyard, where the ladies sat around a beautifully arranged outdoor table, sipping cold drinks and indulging in a delicious charcuterie board. The group was reserved but engaged, quietly curious about what lay ahead. Some had made flower crowns before, while others were experiencing the process for the first time, eager to see where their creativity would take them.
A Palette of Pastel Blooms
For this session, I curated a dreamy selection of pastel pink flowers, including eucalyptus gum, misty, chrysanthemums, ranunculus, carnations, and veronica. Displayed on a trestle table, the floral spread was met with quiet admiration before the creative process began.
Though Cindy, the bride-to-be, insisted she had never made a flower crown before, her creation suggested otherwise—it was beautifully crafted, as if made by a pro!
Creativity, Laughter & A Unique Twist
As the group settled into their designs, a gentle rhythm took over, with soft conversation and a few knowing smiles exchanged. My signature "stretch and wrap" technique provided a few moments of amusement (though some interpretations of it are best left off the blog! 😉).
One of the standout moments was when Angela, one of Cindy’s guests, decided to get extra creative—raiding the charcuterie board for tomatoes and sprigs of rosemary. The result? A truly one-of-a-kind crown that perfectly matched her vibrant tomato-print dress. It was a small but perfect example of how these workshops allow guests to bring their own personal touch to their designs.
The Perfect Finishing Touch
As the workshop wrapped up, the group gathered for a final photo, proudly showing off their floral crowns. Compliments were shared as the guests admired each other’s work, and there was a quiet sense of accomplishment in the air.
It was a relaxed, intimate afternoon filled with creativity and connection—exactly what a hens party should be.
